The Midnight Train

Every night, Marcus dreamed of a train station with a single silver locomotive waiting under the moonlight. One night, he woke to find a train ticket on his bedside table, inscribed with today’s date and the word "Depart". He followed his instincts to the old, abandoned station on the edge of town, where the train was waiting just as he'd seen in his dreams. Stepping aboard, he was greeted by faces from his past, all smiling and welcoming him home. When the sun rose, Marcus was gone, and the station was silent once more.
